Restaurant Name:英将 Teppanyaki
Address:1st Floor, 1088 Plaza, No. 1078 South Pudong Road, Shanghai
Restaurant Introduction:
Based on what people and reviews say, 英将 is a popular little spot known for authentic Kansai-style okonomiyaki, great teppanyaki, and a cozy izakaya vibe. Many call it the “best okonomiyaki in Shanghai.” What really makes it special is the owner, Uncle Lin. He trained for over 20 years in Kobe’s tough okonomiyaki scene and even ran his own shop there. After coming back to China, he brought all that authentic skill and attention to detail with him.

Diner Reviews:
“The place seems to have been renovated — it’s bigger now, and the environment is nice, clean, and cozy.As for the food: beef intestine with tofu, pork okonomiyaki, beef brisket with egg roll, stir-fried squid, and “yakisoba fried rice” (if you can’t decide between fried noodles and fried rice, just go for this). But the rice part doesn’t really stand out.”

“My friend and I were both in Pudong and stumbled on this place that’s all about okonomiyaki. The portions are pretty big — just over a hundred kuai for two people and we were totally stuffed. Everything hit the spot, from the hot little Japanese grilled skewers to all the other stuff. I went there in winter and had such a great meal.”
